Nature Cabins

Tucked away in the heart of Somerset, our cosy ensuite cabins are an escape into nature, and a chance to enjoy our natural farm.

You'll stay on our natural farm, a short walk from the lake, Courtyard Bar and The Farm Caff, our ‘table to farm’ restaurant.

During your stay, check out our market garden, take a dip in our peaceful lake and meet our friendly pigs, goats, horses, geese, sheep and ducks!

Though it feels like a world away, our cabins are only a 10-minute drive from Bruton and Castle Cary and a 40-minute train from Bath. There are plenty of scenic walks nearby, including Glastonbury Tor and Stourhead Gardens.

Whilst you’re here, check out our community events to see what’s happening at the farm.

Immersed in nature our cabins are a peaceful place to relax, connect to the land and explore the farm.

  • "Everyone in the Farm Caff was so welcoming, especially as I was a solo traveler! The cabin itself was a lovely set up located on top of a hill, was a lovely location. Was really a wholesome stay and will definitely be coming back!"

    Danielle, October, 2024

  • "So nice and clean there. The owner was lovely and was just a phonecall away. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! Not too far from Glastonbury too so we enjoyed our days there and the night in the cabin was amazing"

    Jamie, November, 2024

  • "Was great - such a cute cabin and with the heater it gets really warm! The Farm Caff was great and staff very friendly, feels like a long way from the cabin so you are still secluded."

Cabin FAQ’s

  • Our Nature Cabins don’t have a kitchen or cooking facilities, but there is a (very) small fridge for milk. We suggest bringing a *picnic or dining at the Courtyard Bar or The Farm Caff. We’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Wed - Sun.

Nearby towns like Castle Cary and Bruton offer great cafés, restaurants, and farmers’ markets. Don’t forget to check our events page when booking – we often host guest chef supper clubs.

*Picnics are allowed at your cabin only.

  • Families are welcome to explore the farm using the map provided in your cabin. Kids can enjoy the climbing frame, meet our friendly animals, and swim in the lake.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find bird and wildlife guides, sketch pads, and a few books. We recommend bringing extra games if rain is forecast.

For families of three or more, we recommend booking both cabins for extra space and comfort.

  • Exploring the farm, wild swimming, and boating on the lake are free for all guests. Ticketed events are available at an additional cost.

To use the sauna during your stay, please book directly through their website.

  • There’s no Wi-Fi in our Nature Cabins, but 4G/5G signal is available on most networks. If you're on a 'work away' trip, you're welcome to use The Farm Caff or Courtyard Bar for internet access.

Each cabin has a small writer’s desk, and we’re sure the farm will offer plenty of inspiration from the wood wide web.

  • To make the most of your stay, we recommend having a car to explore the local area.

If you're travelling without one, we’re easily reached by train and taxi. Castle Cary station is just 5 minutes away. We recommend bookings taxis in advance. There is no Uber in the area.

  • Yes, we welcome up to two well-behaved dogs. Please bring their own bedding, bowls, and towels. Owners are responsible for any damage.

For the safety of our livestock and the comfort of other guests, dogs must be kept on a short lead around sheep, geese, ducks, goats, pigs, and horses.

There are plenty of lovely local walks, and dogs are welcome at the Courtyard Bar and The Farm Caff.

  • Contact Stay@higher-farm.co.uk to discuss your cancellation.

  • Our Nature Cabins are heated and have electricity, making them cosy retreats year-round. Winter on the farm is peaceful and we get beautiful frosted views of the countryside.

As we’re a working farm, we recommend bringing warm layers and wellies or waterproof boots. During the wetter months it can get very muddy.

We recommend that only experienced cold water swimmers use the lake between Dec - March. Swimming is not permitted after dark and is at your own risk.
